Vinkovci su svojevrsna raskrsnica putova. Svakog jutra nose mu pozdrave deseci jurećih vlakova, pozdrave udaljenih velikih gradova, zemalja i ljudi.

Vinkovci is situated in the place where paths, railroads and rights of ways cross. Dozens of trains arrive rushing and bringing greetings from distant metropolis, countries and people. Let the modern man, with no know-ledge and no experience of what a plain is, start his journey here, in this town, which has never been swept from the surface of the earth, and which has been traced back in history for five thousand years. One of the earliest Bronze cultures has been named after Vinkovci. Cibalae, the Roman settlement, was the birthplace of two Roman emperors. Provincial life has never been a model of living, but has always been a school of yearning. In the past, when New York wasn’t even dreamt of, Vinkovci was a place marked on the maps of Europe.
